Community Social Worker

Under the direction of the Director of Social Services, the Community Social Worker is responsible for all phases of social work services delivery and being a liaison  between the community and the Specialized Services programs at SJJCC.


  • Provide direct, concrete social work to SJJCC members, affiliated and non-affiliated community residents
  • Liaison between congregations, Sid Jacobson JCC programs and services, and community programs
  • Provide clinical individual, couple, and family short-term counseling; crisis intervention; home visits; information and referral
  • Facilitate support groups
  • Consult and collaborate with Clergy
  • Community outreach and networking
  • Develop and conduct workshops, trainings
  • Perform associated administrative tasks as needed
  • Attend UJA meetings and related community meetings
  • Maintain Program statistics
  • Perform additional agency duties as directed by supervisor as needed
  • Maintain CEU’s as prescribed by the State Education department for licensed social workers
  • Other duties as assigned


  • Master’s degree in Social Work; LMSW required, LCSW preferred;
  • Excellent clinical skills
  • Creative with experience in program development
  • Knowledge of community resources
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
  • Strong team-building skills
  • Detail oriented, able to multi-task, self-directed
  • Knowledge of the Jewish community a plus
  • Knowledge of basic computer skills, including but not limited to: Outlook mail & calendar; Word; Excel; Sharepoint
