Reservoir of Strength

|

“Hey Dad, the other day you were able to lift up the minivan, why can’t you do it again? My toy truck is under the minivan and I need it!”

“My dear, yesterday your brother was stuck under the car. That wasn’t my ordinary strength. It’s called an adrenaline rush. A toy won’t trigger that kind of response!”

Life and death moments tear through all barriers and reach our awesome raw energy; generating a force powerful enough to pick up cars, and move brick walls.

Granted these moments are few, but they define who we are. They dig deep and reach our core identity.

Although the conscious experience lasts only a moment, we subconsciously feel them for a lifetime.

You see, certain moments are impossible to forget. We all remember where we stood when 9/11 happened.

Ordinary moments are allowed to be forgotten, that’s why we tap into this thing called memory in order to preserve them.

Awesome moments aren’t ordinary. They don’t need memory. They were never allowed to be forgotten. We digest them in such a way that they become a part of us.

As we conclude the month of the Holidays and enter the ordinary routine , we focus on that awesome part of ourselves, that deep reservoir of strength, inspiration and spiritual sensitivity. Let us remember that this real and raw part of ourselves can never truly be forgotten, only placed on the side.

When we reflect on this singular strength of our soul, our entire year can be transformed.

Wishing you a Shabbat Shalom
