Jews and Power by Dr. Ruth Wisse
Nov 6, 2024 6:30:00 PM
Join us for an enlightening book talk with renowned scholar Dr. Ruth Wisse as she explores a profound and timely question: Why did antisemitism persist, even after the Jewish people reclaimed sovereignty in the Land of Israel in 1948? For nearly 2,000 years, the Jewish people were falsely accused and persecuted during exile. Yet, upon their return to their homeland, those same false accusations and brutalities reemerged.
In this compelling event, Dr. Wisse will delve into the questions of why this happened, who is responsible, and what—if anything—can be done to address it. Don’t miss this opportunity to engage with one of today’s foremost thinkers in a conversation that sheds light on one of the great puzzles of modern history.
Ticket price includes a copy of the book.

Spoiler alert: she got cancer anyway and her book is a powerful reminder about how far we must go when it comes to breast cancer prevention. Gila will answer questions about why she is so vocal about being a breast cancer pre-vivor AND survivor, the importance of genetic testing, how a sense of humor plays a crucial role in facing adversity and why it’s more important now than ever to tell her story through the lens of being an Orthodox Jewish woman.
